Welcome to Clowne and District Motor Club’s 2019 ClunRun which is to be held this year on Sunday 14th  July.
The ClunRun, named after our home village’s Anglo Saxon name, is a Touring Assembly for classic and interesting 4 wheeled motor vehicles ( other  vehicles - but not motorcycles- may be accepted, but please check with the organiser before submitting the entry). The Run will take place this year over the varied but not overly demanding roads in our area, using some places not yet explored by the ClunRun.  The event will follow our usual format, but we have made some organisational changes based on the feedback and the experience of previous events. This year the event will once again start from the Clowne Community Centre which has the benefit of both a grass display area if the weather is fine and substantial tarmac car parks in case it is wet.
We will meet at the Clowne Community Centre, just off the A616 North Road in the centre of the village (Map ref 120, 491758) where we will treat you to a breakfast cob and tea/coffee. The event will start at 9:30 and this year we will again be offering two routes, one at approximately 100 miles and one a little shorter at approximately 80 miles for those who prefer things a little less demanding  or who would like to spend a little more time at the halfway venue . Once again we will be holding our half way stop at a destination of interest.  On return to the start venue in the early afternoon, the vehicles will be placed on static display along with other motor sport and motoring exhibits as part of the annual Clowne Motor Show, and participants in the ClunRun will, as last year, be treated to a buffet meal.
The route will once again be defined by a professionally produced road book of simple descriptive directions so that no one’s navigational skills should be put to too much of a test. If you are new to this type of activity, do not let the navigation put you off as club members will be about at the start of the event to give you help and guidance, and the changes to our on event administration will mean that we are able to get you back on track if you do lose your way and the Road book will also contain a map of the route
Entry fee for the Run this year has, despite the kind support from Clowne Parish Council, Buckingham Insurance, Autosuplies and KielderWT,  to be increased to £35 though it does still include a breakfast cob at the start and a buffet lunch for the driver and one passenger ( though additional breakfasts and lunches can be purchased) and also a memento of the event. Proceeds from the event will once again be used to support the Air Ambulance Service and a basket of local charities.
We hope to see you in July.
